Joint Library of the Hellenic & Roman Societies / Institute of Classical Studies Library

The Library is maintained jointly with the Societies for the Promotion of Hellenic and Roman Studies and in association with the Institute of Classical Studies (University of London). It contains over 130,000 volumes, 22,000 bound volumes of periodicals, thereby bringing the overall total to almost 152,000 volumes. The Library has an international reputation as one of the world’s foremost Classics libraries.

Late evenings have started

The Library is now open until 8pm Tuesday to Thursday for the Summer Term. Mondays and Fridays will shut at 6pm as before .

Goodbye Russell!

With much regret we have had to say farewell to our colleague Russell Shone, the Secretary of the Hellenic Society, and we wish him well for the future. Members of the Hellenic Society will no doubt wish to join us in thanking him for his years of hard work and dedication to the Society.

Easter Closing

The Library will close for Easter at 8pm on Wednesday 19th March and then re-open at 9.30am on Wednesday 26th March.

Late evenings will begin again on Tuesday 22nd April.

New Photocopier

Regular readers will no doubt be pleased to hear that we have installed a new photocopier in the Library, replacing the old one and hopefully reducing the number of paper jams! The card system is the same as before so there is no need to replace any photocopying cards previously bought.
