Just a reminder that Friday 15th August will be the last day the Library is open before it shuts for two weeks. It will close promptly at 6.00 pm.
We will re-open on Monday 1st September. Please note that although Senate House Library will remain open it will not be possible to return Joint Library books during this time. Please wait until we re-open to return books - the closure period will not be counted for any fines.
The Library is maintained jointly with the Societies for the Promotion of Hellenic and Roman Studies and in association with the Institute of Classical Studies (University of London). It contains over 130,000 volumes, 22,000 bound volumes of periodicals, thereby bringing the overall total to almost 152,000 volumes. The Library has an international reputation as one of the world’s foremost Classics libraries.

New periodical
The Joint Library now subscribes to Notiziario della Soprintendenza per i Beni Archeologici del Friuli Venezia Giulia from 1/2006. It covers archaeological research from the Italian regions of Pordenone, Udine, Gorizia and Trieste.
New member of staff
We welcome Katie Rose to the library staff as the new graduate trainee for the year 2008-09. She graduated from King's College London this year with a degree in Classics and we hope she will enjoy her time here at the library.
